Swapping the leafs out of an early Mustang?

This rear four-link replaces the leaf springs with double-adjustable bars and R-Joints. Measure the axle tubes first. A swedged 2-1/4-inch tube needs different U-bolts.

Fitment

  • 1964-1970 Ford Mustang as listed by Ridetech; the manual identifies the early 1964-1967 and later 1968-1970 front bar mounting hardware.

  • Manufacturer-listed models: 1964-1970 Ford Mustang.

Specifications

  • Part 12087197; double-adjustable upper/lower R-Joint bars; satin-black finish; approximately 1-3-inch drop with the matched shock package.

  • Compatible with mini-tubs; adjustable axle position and pinion angle.

Included

  • Cradle, bars/R-Joints, axle and shock mounts, upper axle tabs, standard axle/frame U-bolts, spacers, tab-setting jigs and hardware.

Before ordering and installation

  • Ridetech CoilOvers or ShockWaves are sold separately; factory shocks and leaf springs do not fit.

  • Axle tubes swedged to 2-1/4 inches require four separate Ridetech 99566009 U-bolts. An axle without stock-style leaf pads may need separate 70010122 weld-on lower brackets.

  • Installation includes drilling, cutting off the factory pinion-snubber mount and welding upper axle tabs. Check fuel-line and tailpipe routing.

  • Center the axle and set pinion angle before fitting ShockWaves so the bag cannot rub the lower axle mount. R-Joints need no added lubrication.
