Need caster and camber adjustment on a C4 Corvette?
SPC 97190 is a forged-steel front upper arm pair for 1984–96 Corvettes with on-car caster/camber adjustment. It uses stock-length ball studs, not the taller ones from SPC's other muscle-car arms.
What is in the box
One pair of forged-steel front upper control arms; one pair is required per axle.
Greaseable, rebuildable ball joints, rubber bushings and grease fittings are included.
Stock-length ball studs are supplied; optional 1/4-inch-extended studs are separate.
Included cross-shaft spacers must be fitted on both sides of each C4 cross-shaft to preserve the OE rotation axis and camber curve.
Match it to the car
Manufacturer coverage is Chevrolet Corvette, 1984-96. Confirm the C4 cross-shaft mounts, knuckle taper, actual spring/shock layout and wheel clearance. Optional taller studs are a geometry choice, not an included upgrade.
Before the wrench comes out
Front camber/caster adjustment is listed at ±3 degrees. Have a qualified installer check existing wear, OE arm dimensions, cross-shaft mounting and knuckle taper, then complete a vehicle-specific alignment. Adjustment does not choose its own settings.
Fit the supplied spacers on both sides of the cross-shaft. Moving the shaft arbitrarily to one side changes the axis SPC intended to retain.
Support the knuckle and protect the brake lines while removing the original arm. Reuse suitable OE chassis-mounting hardware and follow the shared 97111INS Rev A instructions, which explicitly list this part number.
Keep equal exposed adjuster threads; no more than 1.0 inch may show past the jam nuts on either side. The ball-joint housing and forward clamp leg must meet with no gap, and the clamping surfaces must stay clean and free of grease.
Final-tighten the cross-shaft end nuts at ride height, following the manual’s tightening sequence. Check suspension travel and both steering limits for wheel, spring, shock and chassis contact.
Use NLGI #2, Grade LB grease with 3-5% molybdenum disulfide. SPC calls for 3-6 pumps at each oil change or after wet/dusty use. Road-test, recheck the clamp gap and clearances, and retorque immediately and again after 50-100 miles.
SPC’s current part page lists LTD LIFETIME coverage subject to its warranty policy. That policy requires qualifying original purchase, the original vehicle and professional installation; ball joints and bushings are limited to 3 years/36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Competition, racing, off-road use, abuse, alteration and incorrect installation are excluded, as are finish and normal wear. Keep the original proof of purchase; claims require SPC verification/return authorization, with freight prepaid at the customer’s expense. The remedy is repair or replacement at SPC’s option, without labor or consequential-loss coverage. The shared installation sheet also carries general 90-day defect language, so confirm applicable coverage with SPC before relying on a warranty claim.
