Ready to machine the spindles on your Fox?
Wilwood 140-11018-DR has red four-piston Forged Dynalite calipers and 11-inch SRP rotors for the listed five-lug Ford applications. The spindles have to be machined for this kit.
What is in the box
Four-piston Forged Dynalite calipers in red powder coat, BP-10 pads and 11.00 x 0.81-inch SRP drilled/slotted iron rotors with black electrocoat.
Aluminum hubs/rotor adapters, inner and outer bearings, grease seals, dust caps/O-rings, caliper brackets, 1/2-20 studs, shims, supplied spindle washers and the listed assembly hardware.
The hubs offer 5 x 4.50 and 5 x 4.75-inch stud patterns. Install the studs in the pattern matching the actual wheels; five lugs alone do not identify the bolt circle.
Flexline kit 220-6471 is separate and required; stock rubber hoses do not adapt. Retain the OE spindle nut and nut lock where fitted, and supply new spindle cotter pins, which the manual explicitly says are not included.
Match it to the car
The exact manufacturer rows are 1984-86 Mustang SVO with five-lug wheels and rear discs; 1987-93 Mustang with V8 spindles and five lugs; the separate 1993 Mustang row adds rear discs; and 1987-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with five lugs. Those configuration limits remain attached to the finder results. Other engines, spindles, four-lug cars and other Mustang/Thunderbird years are not inferred.
Before the wrench comes out
Have a qualified machine shop follow DS726 on both spindles. The manual calls for drilling the three dust-plate holes to 0.332 inch and tapping 3/8-24 UNF, then trimming the OE caliper ears with the new bracket as the clearance template. Remove only the material necessary for clearance and finish the cuts as instructed before kit assembly.
The kit moves the wheel mounting position outward by 0.24 inch on each side. Measure fender, tire and suspension clearance with that change included; it is not a total-track-width figure.
Wilwood lists 14-inch wheels as conditional. Use the template and maintain the manual’s minimum 0.080-inch caliper-to-wheel gap. If a wheel’s contact surface overhangs the hub face, DS726 requires separate spacer 300-11961. Its stamped-steel-wheel warning also calls for separate shield 300-10716 when the wheel has no face overhang; check the actual wheel.
Pack and adjust the bearings to the specified procedure. Use the supplied spindle washer so the dust cap seats; retain the OE nut/lock and use a new, separately supplied spindle cotter pin. The kit’s pad-retainer cotter pins do not replace the spindle pins.
Center the caliper with the supplied shims and confirm mounting-bolt engagement through the clinch nuts. Match the separate 220-6471 hoses and 1/8-27 NPT caliper adapters to the vehicle, with room for full steering and suspension travel.
An experienced brake installer must verify master-cylinder compatibility and front/rear balance, follow all torque and threadlocker instructions, then bleed, inspect for leaks/interference, bed the pads and complete DS726’s minimum test procedure before road use.
