The rear axle is the first measurement on this C10 brake job. Wilwood 140-12569-DR uses red two-piston D154 calipers and 12.19-inch drilled-and-slotted rotors with internal parking-brake drums. It needs the Large Chevy C10 housing flange and a measured 2.42-inch axle offset; a five-lug wheel pattern is only one of the checks.
In the kit
- Two red powder-coated two-piston floating D154 calipers, BP-10 pads and 12.19 x .81-inch one-piece iron drilled-and-slotted rotor/parking-drum assemblies with black electro-coat.
- Left/right parking-brake bracket assemblies with internal shoes, caliper slide sleeves/bolts and the listed pad-retaining hardware.
- Hydraulic lines/fittings, parking-brake cables, clevises, adapters and cable hardware are separate. Reuse the appropriate OE axle, bearing, housing mounting bolts and nuts. New crush washers for reused OE hoses are not included.
Fitment and setup
Five-lug C10/C15-family rear axle only. Proposed finder coverage is limited to the source-listed 1971-and-later C10/C10 Pickup, five-lug Blazer/K5 Blazer and GMC C15/C1500 Pickup rows retained in this packet. Match the actual rear housing and axle; the front-spindle wording in the source table is not rear-axle proof. Other bodies, earlier years, 4WD and conversion rows are withheld.
- Measure 2.42 inches from the wheel-side axle flange face to the wheel-side housing flange face. Confirm the Large Chevy C10 housing bolt pattern and bearing OD, axle/rotor stud pattern, 3.11-inch center register and maximum 6.61-inch axle flange with .050 x 45-degree chamfer.
- The rotor holes are drilled for 1/2-inch studs. Wilwood recommends upgrading OE 7/16-inch studs; the axle may need machine work. Larger studs can require a qualified shop to drill the rotor bolt circle. Do not assume a stud swap is always sufficient.
- The page lists 16-inch wheels and allows that some 15-inch wheels may fit. Check the DS924 drawing and maintain at least .080 inch between wheel and caliper everywhere.
- D154 calipers use a 10mm x 1.50 inlet. Compatible OE hoses with 10mm fittings may be adapted with new crush washers; steel banjo fittings and braided lines are preferred. Match chassis fittings, length and full-travel clearance.
- Provide the separate parking-brake cable/clevis kit; Wilwood lists 330-9371. Route cables as straight as possible with the recommended minimum 6–8-inch bend radius, secure the sheaths without crushing them, pre-stretch and readjust. Set shoe clearance and test holding ability before use.
Have an experienced brake installer read the complete instructions, check hardware engagement and system sizing/bias, then bleed, bed and test the brakes before driving. Do not drive on untested brakes.
