How many bracket holes does your spindle have?
Count them before you take the brakes apart. The three-hole spindle needs machine work before this Dynapro 6 kit goes on. Get that done first.
Fitment
1965-1966 Mustang applications require factory V8 disc or drum spindles. 1967-1969 Mustangs require the listed factory disc or drum spindle.
Additional factory-spindle applications cover the manufacturer-listed Fairlane, Falcon, Maverick, Ranchero, Torino, Caliente, Comet, Cougar, Cyclone and Montego combinations in the application rows.
1970 Mustang coverage is limited to factory-disc GT350/GT500 applications. 1970 Falcon and Maverick drum coverage is limited to production through August 24, 1969. Check the application condition for your exact vehicle.
Specifications
Part 140-12947-D; six-piston Dynapro 6 calipers with black powder coat; 12.19 x 0.81-inch SRP drilled/slotted iron rotors with black electro-coat.
Aluminum hubs support 5 x 4.50 and 5 x 4.75 bolt circles with 1/2-20 studs. Published hub offset increases track width 0.09 inch per side.
Included
Two Dynapro 6 calipers, two drilled/slotted rotors, aluminum hubs and rotor adapters, BP-10 pad set, mounting brackets, inner/outer bearing cones, grease seals, dust caps, wheel studs, spindle washers, shims and assembly hardware.
Both three-bolt and four-bolt spindle bracket hardware are supplied. Select the matching group; the spare bolts are not an invitation to improvise.
Before ordering and installation
Check the wheel template before ordering. Some 15-inch wheels clear; wheel diameter alone does not prove clearance. Maintain the manual's minimum 0.080-inch wheel-to-caliper clearance.
Match the hub's 5 x 4.50 or 5 x 4.75 bolt circle and 1/2-20 studs to the wheels. Inspect how the wheel seats on the aluminum hub.
Any wheel contact surface that overhangs the hub face requires separate Wilwood 300-11961 spacers. Stamped steel wheels without that overhang should use separate 300-10716 hub shields.
Identify the spindle's three-hole or four-hole bracket arrangement before disassembly. DS-964 identifies the three-hole arrangement as the 1968-1969 disc spindle; that arrangement requires the manual's drilling, 3/8-24 tapping and countersinking work by a qualified machine shop. Use the matching supplied hardware for the four-hole arrangement. Inspect original caliper ears for interference and follow the applicable manual instructions.
Use the correct supplied bracket hardware for the three-bolt or four-bolt spindle. Retain the OEM spindle nuts and locks; cotter pins are not included.
Flex lines are separate; the factory lines do not attach to these calipers. Wilwood lists 220-12168 for the Mustang application. Verify line routing and the master-cylinder/proportioning combination for the complete car.
Bleed, bed and test the completed brakes using the manufacturer procedure before road use.
