A plain rotor still needs a properly matched spindle. Wilwood 140-7675 pairs black four-piston Dynalite calipers with 12.19-inch plain-face rotors and new aluminum hubs for the exact GM01 applications. Choose it for the hardware on the car, then check the wheel; the larger rotor does not negotiate with a tight spoke.
What is in the box
- Two black powder-coated Forged Dynalite calipers, 12.19 x .81-inch Ultralite HP 32 iron rotors and BP-10 pads.
- Aluminum hubs with 5 x 4.50 and 5 x 4.75 patterns, 1/2-20 studs, rotor adapters, mounting brackets, bearings, seals, dust caps, shims and the listed mounting hardware.
- Flex lines are not included. Wilwood lists 220-7056 separately; verify its length, fittings and route for the actual car. Keep the correct OE spindle nuts/nut locks and provide new spindle cotter pins as instructed.
Match it to the build
The manufacturer separates factory disc, factory drum and Ridetech Pin-spindle applications. Camaro, Chevelle, Chevy II/Nova and the listed Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and GMC models have specific year and spindle rows. Ford/Mercury and Corvette entries in this table require the specified Ridetech Pin spindle; they are not stock-spindle coverage.
Before installation
- The published hub offset is +.19 inch per side. Check wheel-to-fender position and actual brake clearance; some 15-inch wheels fit only after the DS-448 drawing is checked with at least .080-inch clearance.
- Some spindles need the upper anchor hole drilled/tapped and the lower spindle/steering-arm hole enlarged to .50 inch. Follow DS-448’s exact dimensions and have a qualified machinist do that work.
- Steering-arm position determines whether the caliper bracket goes ahead of or behind the spindle. A front-mounted bracket uses the opposite-side bracket; check alignment and complete bolt engagement after shimming.
- If the wheel contact surface overhangs the hub face, the separate 300-11961 steel spacer is required. DS-448 also calls for the separate 300-10716 hub shield with stamped-steel wheels that do not overhang. Check mounting contact, stud engagement and lug torque.
- Pack the supplied bearings with appropriate disc-brake bearing grease, follow the OE bearing adjustment and complete Wilwood’s bleed, bedding and minimum-test procedures with an experienced brake installer.
