Vintage Rust Rolls In at the Planes, Trains & Automobiles Show
Yesterday Vintage Rust rolled onto the tarmac at the Planes, Trains & Automobiles Show at Plant City Airport, bringing our 1967 LS-swapped C10 classic truck build to the event — and it turned into a day we won’t forget.
Our 1967 LS-swapped C10 brought home 2nd place, and with around 100 vehicles on the field, that felt like a big win. Classic builds, customs, hot rods, and unique projects filled the airport runway, making the competition tough and the atmosphere even better.
Walking away with silver among that lineup was something we’re proud of.
A Great Day for Classic Trucks and Custom Builds
The show had the perfect mix of vehicles and personalities. From vintage trucks to wild custom builds, every row had something worth stopping to check out.
Events like this are about more than trophies. They’re about talking shop, sharing stories, and meeting people who understand the time, effort, and passion behind every build.
We spent the day connecting with fellow builders, checking out incredible machines, and making new friends in the classic truck and custom car community.
One of the Most Unique Builds at the Show
One of the highlights of the day was meeting David Strenkowski and seeing his custom Smart car from BRAAP Ridin’ Salty.
It’s a small car, but the creativity behind the build made it one of the most memorable vehicles on the field. Projects like that remind you that car culture isn’t just about size or horsepower — it’s about creativity and personality.
The 1967 LS-Swapped C10
Our 1967 C10 build represents everything Vintage Rust stands for — classic truck heritage mixed with modern performance.
The LS swap brings reliability and power to a truck that already carries decades of character. Seeing it recognized at an event like this makes all the late nights in the garage worth it.
Getting a classic truck to events like this takes planning. Many builders choose to trailer their trucks to protect fresh paint, avoid road debris, and keep unnecessary miles off the drivetrain.

Thanks to Everyone Who Made the Show Great
Huge thanks to the event organizers for putting together a fantastic show and to everyone who stopped by to check out the C10.
Congratulations to the other winners and to everyone who brought out their builds. The creativity and passion on display are what keep the classic truck community alive.
Why We Show Up
Events like this are exactly why we build trucks in the first place.
Classic trucks bring people together. Whether it’s a C10, F100, D100, or another vintage pickup, the garage culture around them keeps growing because of the people behind the builds.
Vintage Rust is proud to be part of that community.
We’re already looking forward to the next show.
